What skill level do I need to have to attend Queerclimbtastic?

Queerclimbtastic is for climbers of all experience levels, from people trying climbing for the first time to seasoned climbers. Whether you’re here to learn something new, meet other climbers, or challenge yourself, there’s a place for you. Come as you are, climb at your own pace, and enjoy the weekend with the community.

What should I bring?

What to BringDon’t have everything you need? That’s okay! Our Discord has a mutual aid channel where you can connect with others and see if someone can help you with gear or other essentials.Here are a few things we recommend bringing:Climbing Gear: If you have your own gear—harness, climbing shoes, chalk bag, rope, crash pad, quickdraws, helmet, etc.—bring it along.Comfortable Clothes: Wear clothes that are comfortable and easy to move in. Moisture-wicking and flexible clothing is great for climbing.Water Bottle: Bring a reusable water bottle and make sure to stay hydrated throughout the weekend.Snacks: Pack some snacks to keep you fueled between climbs. Fruit, nuts, granola bars, and other easy-to-carry options work great.Sunscreen & Hat: You’ll be spending plenty of time outside, so come prepared for the sun.Yourself: Bring a good attitude, an open mind, and a willingness to meet new people. The rest will fall into place!

Is it safe for me to travel to the south as a queer individual?

At Queerclimbtastic, we want everyone to feel safe, comfortable, and welcome from the moment they arrive. We know that traveling through the South can be a different experience depending on where you are, so we encourage everyone to use their best judgment and travel with others when possible.Our event team is always available if you have questions about getting around, places to visit, or anything else while you’re in town. We’re here to help you feel comfortable and connected throughout the weekend.Most importantly, look out for yourself and each other. Queerclimbtastic is built around creating a supportive and affirming space where everyone can show up as themselves, make friends, and enjoy the weekend.

Are pets allowed at Queerclimbtastic?

Absolutely! Pets are welcome at Queerclimbtastic. We know our furry friends are part of the family, and we’re happy to have them along for the weekend.We just ask that you keep your pet leashed, supervised, and under control at all times. Please also clean up after them and bring anything they may need, including water, food, and waste bags.As always, be mindful of other attendees and their pets so everyone can enjoy the weekend!

How does lodging work at Queerclimbtastic?

There are a few different ways to stay at Queerclimbtastic, whether you want the comfort of a cabin or prefer to sleep under the stars.We have several cabins available at different price points. If you’re interested in booking a cabin, reach out to Chris at chris@queerclimbtastic.org.If tent camping is more your style, we have plenty of space available. No reservation is needed for tent camping—you can simply pay when you arrive.There is also several Air BnBs and hotels in the area you can also stay at.

Should I come if I am in recovery?

Absolutely! Queerclimbtastic welcomes people who are sober or in recovery. We want everyone to feel comfortable showing up as themselves, and we have many attendees who are part of the recovery community.We’re also continuing to expand our sober programming and activities so there are plenty of ways to connect and have a great weekend without alcohol being part of the experience.If you have questions about sober options or want to learn more about what we offer, reach out to info@queerclimbtastic.com.

Does Queerclimbtastic have a policy on drug use?

For everyone’s safety, we ask that participants leave drugs at home, especially when taking part in climbing or other activities. Our priority is creating a safe, comfortable environment where everyone can enjoy the weekend and focus on climbing and community.Please look out for yourself and those around you, and help us keep Queerclimbtastic a safe space for everyone.
